About Southcrest Nursing Home

Southcrest is a nursing home set over three floors, registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to accommodate up to 40 service users. We have provided quality residential & nursing care within the Redditch community since 1988. We care for people with a diverse range of healthcare needs, including chronic medical conditions, complex dementia, and physical disability.

We are an independent health care provider in Southcrest, situated on a main road with excellent public transport links, only a 15 minute walk from the Kingfisher Shopping Centre. Our location also affords us excellent links to the local community, such as schools, churches, and small businesses.

Southcrest has been involved in supporting researchers since 2015 and have been honoured to participate in a number of research studies, which we hope will contribute to developing new ways of understanding, treating, managing and preventing dementia in the future. The team continue to support and participate in research. However, do not worry - we understand that not everybody will want to participate in such studies, and consider consent to be one of the fundamentals of our care philosophy.

The Team at Southcrest

Our management and nursing team are responsible for delivering our service in a transparent, caring manner. Here at Southcrest, we celebrate individuality; our residents deserve to be partners in their care. Our care plans based on each person's individual needs, personalities, and personal preferences. Our Registered Manager is also a registered nurse with over 30 years of NHS and social care experience, and is always on call to ensure that everything runs smoothly at our home.

Carers at Southcrest are friendly, personable, responsible, and well-trained; we endeavour to treat people with the utmost dignity and respect and caring for them as individuals. Our carers are trained using a blended approach, through online courses and physical workshops held at the home, and are subject to routine supervisions from members of the senior team to ensure that the highest of standards are being upheld. A number of our team have also completed accredited healthcare training to support them in their role.

Our catering team works hard to produce fresh, home-cooked food every day in accordance to each resident's specific dietary needs & preferences; we have a menu system that allows for personal choice in each meal. Our experienced, qualified Chef leads the kitchen with warmth and confidence, and never hesitates to produce lovely cakes & spreads for any occasion.

Not to be forgotten are our wonderful facilities team; our laundry assistants and housekeepers do a brilliant job keeping the home spick and span, and make sure that the residents always have spotless rooms (and a clean set of clothes) to relax in.

All laundry is cleaned in-house, and this is included in our care fees.

Currently, our maintenance team is undertaking a phased refurbishment of the home, whilst also working hard to ensure that our home meets exacting standards of health and safety for the benefit of residents, visitors, and staff.

Available Services

We understand that making the choice to move into a nursing home is one of the hardest decisions we can make for ourselves or those we care for; and we work closely with professionals to ensure that all of our residents can receive specialist healthcare wherever needed.

Hairdressing Salon* - one of our carers is also a trained beautician and hairdresser who offers beauty & hair treatments on request

Visiting Podiatrist/Chiropodist* - we currently have visiting practitioners who provide a quality service every 6 weeks

Visiting Optician* - our optician is able to perform most visual tests on-site in our home

Visiting Dentist* - our dentist is also a regular visitor to the home

Visiting General Practitioner (GP) - as with most nursing homes we have an aligned GP allocated to us by the Redditch and Bromsgrove Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). This is a GP who is local and has agreed to take on a contract which requires them to manage the health of all services users within our home (unless alternative arrangements have been made/agreed). Our GP performs medical & virtual rounds at least weekly to support the clinical team in keeping people who live with us well.

*Please note that the cost of some services provided are not included in your package and these would be met by service users or if appropriate NHS exemption.
